2027: Olajengbesi Emerges Accord Reps Candidate, Targets End to Wole Oke’s 24-Year Dominance

Accord Party chieftain and prominent legal practitioner, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has emerged as the party’s candidate for the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olajengbesi was officially presented with his Certificate of Return on Friday in Osun State during a ceremony witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party stakeholders, and supporters.

The politician, who currently serves as spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council championing the re-election bid of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Accord Party and pledged to unseat the incumbent lawmaker, Wole Oke, who has represented the constituency since the return of democracy in 1999.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Olajengbesi described his emergence as a call to service and a renewed opportunity to reposition the constituency through youthful and progressive representation.

According to him, the people of Oriade/Obokun have remained stagnant politically and developmentally due to what he described as the recycling of old ideas and prolonged leadership.

The Ijebu-Ijesa-born lawyer from Oriade Local Government Area said the time had come for a new generation of leadership capable of delivering meaningful development and effective representation to the people.

Olajengbesi, who will turn 40 in August and previously contested for the same position in 2019, maintained that the constituency deserves fresh ideas and innovative leadership capable of addressing the needs of the people.

“This moment is one of gratitude, humility, and renewed commitment to the service of our people,” he said.

“First and foremost, I give all glory to God Almighty, whose grace and guidance have brought us this far. I am deeply grateful to our party leaders, stakeholders, supporters, and the countless men and women who believe in our shared vision for a better and more prosperous Oriade/Obokun.

“This certificate is not just a symbol of candidature, it is a reminder of the responsibility before us and the collective journey we must undertake together.

“The work begins now. By God’s grace, with unity, dedication, and the support of our people, we will build a future that reflects the hopes and aspirations of every community across our constituency.”

His emergence is expected to intensify political activities in the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency as parties begin early preparations for the 2027 elections.
