ADC Primaries: Akpabio’s Relative, Others Secure Guber and Senate Tickets in Akwa Ibom
By Kehinde Awosina
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom State has completed its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general polls, producing candidates for key positions, including governorship and Senate seats.
One of the notable outcomes is the emergence of Pat Akpabio, identified as the daughter-in-law of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who secured the party’s ticket to contest for the Akwa Ibom North-West senatorial district.
Her victory places her among the frontline contenders expected to represent the ADC in what is likely to be a competitive race in the 2027 elections.
The party also produced its governorship candidate and other flagbearers for various constituencies during the exercise, which officials said was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner in line with internal party rules.
ADC leaders described the primaries as transparent and inclusive, noting that the process reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and broader participation.
With these nominations concluded, the ADC says it is gearing up to strengthen its presence in Akwa Ibom and challenge other major political parties in the forthcoming elections.
