Adeleke to Osun Residents: Use Eid-el-Kabir to Assess Governance, Promote Peace and Development

The Governor of Ademola Adeleke has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in Osun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, calling for deeper reflection on the values of sacrifice, obedience, love, and compassion that the festival represents.


In a statement released through his spokesperson, the Governor described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred reminder of total submission to God’s will, while stressing the importance of unity, peace, and mutual understanding among citizens regardless of background.


He noted that the lessons of the festival align with the guiding principles of his administration, which he said remain centered on service delivery, fairness, and improving the welfare of the people of the state.


Governor Adeleke encouraged residents to take advantage of the festive period to evaluate the performance of his government across key sectors such as infrastructure development, healthcare services, education, workers’ welfare, and community-based social interventions. He maintained that his administration remains committed to people-focused governance and continuous development across all parts of the state.


According to him, “As you move around our towns and communities, assess the ongoing projects and services being delivered. Our administration remains dedicated to serving the people consistently and responsibly.”


He further reassured citizens of his government’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusiveness, and equal opportunities, emphasizing that no individual or group would be marginalized under his leadership.


The Governor also urged Muslims to uphold the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, including patience, sacrifice, generosity, and tolerance, noting that such values are essential for sustaining peace and development in society.


While appreciating the continued support of the people, he reaffirmed his determination to sustain developmental efforts across the state, adding that governance must always reflect the needs and aspirations of the populace.


Adeleke also cautioned against attempts to exploit religious or political sentiments to cause division, stating that Osun State has continued to experience relative stability due to the people’s commitment to unity and rejection of divisive politics.


He encouraged citizens to extend kindness to the less privileged during the celebration, stressing that acts of charity remain central to the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir.


“As we mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, I encourage our people to pray for continued peace, progress, and unity in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole. Let us also reflect on the journey so far and work together to build a more prosperous future,” the Governor added.
