APC Clears Air on Membership Dues, Says All Registered Members Can Vote in Primaries

The All Progressives Congress has clarified that party members participating in its ongoing primary elections are not required to present evidence of payment of membership dues before casting their votes.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, explained that all duly registered members of the APC remain eligible to take part in the exercise without any additional payment verification.

According to the statement, the requirement for proof of membership dues payment applied only during the nomination and screening stages involving aspirants seeking elective positions and their nominators.

The party noted that the condition was specifically tied to the submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, as well as the screening process for aspirants contesting under the APC platform.

Morka urged party members, officials, and stakeholders across the country to disregard reports suggesting that voters must provide evidence of dues payment before participating in the primaries.

He stressed that the clarification became necessary to prevent confusion and ensure that eligible party members are not denied the opportunity to vote during the ongoing internal electoral process.

The APC also appealed to members to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the primaries and support efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth and credible exercise nationwide.

The ruling party is currently conducting primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants contesting for various elective positions across the country.
