APC Primaries: Babatunde Desmond Ojo Emerges Oriade Assembly Candidate for 2027 Election

Hon. (Arc.) Babatunde Desmond Ojo has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election for Oriade State Constituency ahead of the 2027 Osun State House of Assembly election.
The keenly contested primary election was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, across the 12 wards in Oriade Local Government Area, with five aspirants vying for the party’s ticket.
The contest featured one aspirant from Zone 1, Ijeda-Ijesa, and four aspirants from Zone 2, comprising three contenders from Ipetu-Ijesa and one from Ikeji.
At the end of the open ballot exercise, Hon. Desmond Ojo secured victory in eight out of the twelve wards, polling a total of 1,286 votes to emerge as the APC candidate for the constituency.
His closest challenger, Engr. Olufemi Akosile, garnered 528 votes, while Prof. Ifemidayo Akinmoladun polled 202 votes. Other aspirants in the race, Hon. Tomi Aloba and Otunba Kunle Bolarinde, failed to secure victory in any ward.
According to the results released after the exercise, Hon. Desmond Ojo won in Erin-Oke Ward 1, Erin-Ijesa Ward 2, Ijebu-Ijesa Ward 3, Iwoye/Ere Ward 4, Ikeji-Arakeji/Owena Ward 7, Apoti/Dagbaja Ward 8, Ijeda/Iloko Ward 11, and Erinmo/Iwaraja Ward 12.
Engr. Akosile claimed victory in Ikeji-Ile Ward 5 and Ira Ward 6, while Prof. Akinmoladun won in Ipetu-Ijesa Ward 9 and Ward 10.
With a total APC membership registration of 3,992 across the constituency, the outcome of the primary is being seen by party supporters as a strong endorsement of Hon. Desmond Ojo’s candidacy ahead of the 2027 general election.
Party loyalists and supporters have since congratulated the APC flagbearer, describing the outcome as a reflection of the collective decision of party members across Oriade Local Government.
