APC Primary Shock as Cubana Chief Priest Loses Reps Ticket Battle in Imo

 By Kehinde Awosina

Popular nightlife entrepreneur and South-East City Boy Movement Coordinator, Cubana Chief Priest has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.

Cubana Chief Priest, who recently declared interest in representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, was defeated by the incumbent lawmaker, Canice Moore Nwachukwu, during the party’s primary election.

The outcome brings an end to the celebrity businessman’s attempt to clinch the APC ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His entry into the race had generated attention across social media and political circles, with supporters expressing optimism that his popularity and grassroots influence could boost his chances at the polls. However, the incumbent lawmaker retained the confidence of party delegates to secure victory in the keenly contested primary.

Despite the setback, political observers say Cubana Chief Priest’s participation in the contest has further highlighted the growing involvement of entertainers and public figures in Nigerian politics.

The APC is expected to officially present its successful candidates for the 2027 elections after the conclusion of internal party processes nationwide.
