APC Screens Out Dozens of Fubara Loyalists From Rivers Assembly Primaries

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has reportedly disqualified dozens of aspirants believed to be loyal to Siminalayi Fubara from participating in the party’s 2027 Rivers State House of Assembly primaries.
According to a screening list released by the party, over 60 aspirants seeking tickets to contest for seats in the Rivers State House of Assembly were not cleared across several constituencies in the state.
The development is said to have intensified political tensions within the APC in Rivers State, as many of the affected aspirants are reportedly associated with Governor Fubara amid the ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although the APC leadership has yet to publicly explain the reasons behind the mass disqualification, party insiders believe the move may be connected to internal power struggles and efforts to shape the party’s structure before the primaries.
The affected aspirants are expected to challenge the decision, while political observers say the outcome could significantly influence the balance of power within Rivers politics in the coming months.
Reports indicate that the screening exercise affected aspirants from multiple local government areas, sparking reactions among party members and supporters across the state.
