Atiku Meets Amaechi in Reconciliation Move After ADC Presidential Primary

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Thursday visited the residence of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi for high-level reconciliation and unity talks following the recently concluded African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary.
The meeting is coming in the aftermath of the party’s primary election, which saw Atiku emerge as the ADC presidential candidate ahead of other contenders, including Amaechi.
Sources familiar with the development described the meeting as cordial and strategic, noting that discussions centred on strengthening internal unity within the opposition party and fostering collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit is widely seen as part of ongoing efforts by Atiku to unite key stakeholders within the ADC after the fiercely contested primary process.
Speaking after securing the party’s ticket, Atiku had stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility, insisting that the primary election produced no enemies within the party.
“There is no winner and there is no loser. The primaries were simply a democratic process to choose a flag bearer. Now is the time for unity, partnership, and collective resolve in the mission to rescue Nigeria,” Atiku stated.
Political observers say the reconciliation move could play a major role in consolidating opposition forces as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential election, where the ADC is expected to challenge the ruling government.
