“Back Tinubu or Risk Losing Federal Projects” — Umahi Warns, Vows End to Afikpo Valley Road Deaths

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged the South-East region to fully support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that political alignment at the federal level could determine the level of development projects allocated to the region.
Umahi, a former governor of Ebonyi State, said continued backing for Bola Ahmed Tinubu would help ensure the South-East receives greater federal attention, especially in infrastructure development and ongoing road projects.
According to him, key federal projects currently underway in the region are evidence of the administration’s commitment to balanced development, urging stakeholders to prioritize national cooperation over political divisions as the 2027 elections approach.
In a related development, Umahi also assured residents that the long-standing safety challenges on the Afikpo Valley Road would soon be resolved. He disclosed that government interventions are already in progress to eliminate the recurring fatal accidents and improve the road’s structural integrity.
“We are determined to end the deaths on the Afikpo Valley Road,” he said, stressing that the project has become a priority under the Ministry of Works’ renewed infrastructure agenda.
His remarks come amid growing political conversations around zoning, federal presence in the South-East, and party realignments ahead of the next general election cycle.
