Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency seat after recording a massive win at the polls.
The APC primary, held amid heightened political interest in Katsina State, saw Yusuf Buhari defeat his opponent, Hon. Auwal Lawal Daura, by an overwhelming margin. Yusuf polled 5,849 votes, while Daura secured only 21 votes, confirming what many party observers described as a dominant and decisive victory.
The outcome has generated widespread reactions within political circles across Katsina, with supporters celebrating the result as a strong endorsement of the Buhari family’s continued influence in the state’s political landscape.
Party members and loyalists were seen jubilating after the announcement of the results, describing Yusuf Buhari’s emergence as a reflection of confidence in his leadership potential and political future.
Political analysts believe the victory positions Yusuf Buhari as a major contender ahead of the general election, especially considering the long-standing popularity of the Buhari name in the Daura axis and across parts of northern Nigeria.
The Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency is regarded as one of the politically significant constituencies in Katsina State due to its historical ties to the Buhari family.
With the APC ticket now secured, attention is expected to shift toward the general election campaign and the reactions of opposition parties in the constituency.
