Crisis-Ridden APC Cannot Convince Osun Voters” — Imole Campaign Council Slams Party Primaries
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has described the ongoing controversies surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Osun State as evidence of what it called the opposition party’s lack of democratic values and inability to win a credible election in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the spokesperson of the council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the group alleged that the crisis rocking the APC primaries exposed deep divisions, confusion, and internal contradictions within the party.
According to the council, a political party that struggles to organise a transparent and acceptable internal process cannot be trusted with the responsibility of governing the people.
The statement accused the Osun APC of engaging in arbitrary disqualification of aspirants, imposition of candidates, and disregard for internal party democracy, adding that such actions have weakened the party’s credibility among residents of the state.
TICC further argued that the recurring disputes within the APC showed that the party lacked respect for democratic principles, fairness, and accountability.
The group maintained that the people of Osun State had continued to reject the APC because, in its view, the party had failed to demonstrate commitment to inclusiveness and respect for its own members.
While criticising the opposition party, the council praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for what it described as people-oriented leadership and adherence to democratic values.
The statement noted that Adeleke’s administration remained focused on infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, education, workers’ welfare, agriculture, and fiscal management, despite political distractions.
TICC added that leadership should be built on service, humility, accountability, and performance rather than political propaganda or imposition.
