 By Kehinde Awosina

Governor Dapo Abiodun has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Ogun East following the withdrawal of the incumbent senator, Gbenga Daniel, from the race ahead of the party’s primary election.

Abiodun secured the party’s ticket after a peaceful primary exercise conducted across the Ogun East Senatorial District on Monday, with party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates rallying behind his candidacy.

Reacting to his victory, the Ogun State governor expressed appreciation to members and leaders of the APC for what he described as overwhelming support and confidence in his leadership. He noted that the orderly and transparent conduct of the primary reflected the unity, discipline, and democratic values within the ruling party.

Abiodun said the outcome of the election represents a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance and commitment to the development of Ogun State. He also commended security agencies, electoral officials, cabinet members, and members of his political team for their contributions toward the successful conduct of the exercise.

The governor assured party faithful and residents of Ogun East that he would remain committed to delivering effective representation and sustaining developmental strides across the state if elected into the Senate.

The emergence of Abiodun is expected to reshape the political landscape in Ogun East, especially following the decision of Senator Gbenga Daniel to step aside from the contest.
