Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji, 11 Governorship Candidates Pledge Peace Ahead of Election

 By Kehinde Awosina

Ekiti State Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday joined 11 other governorship candidates in signing a peace accord ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in the state.

The agreement, held in Ado-Ekiti, was facilitated by the National Peace Committee in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission), as part of efforts to promote a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election process.

The peace accord brought together candidates from various political parties, who pledged to conduct issue-based campaigns, avoid hate speech, and respect the electoral process as political activities intensify across the state.

The initiative, according to organisers, is aimed at reducing tensions and ensuring that the governorship election is conducted in an atmosphere of peace and mutual respect among stakeholders.

With campaigns expected to enter a more competitive phase in the coming weeks, stakeholders say the signing of the accord is a key step toward maintaining stability before, during, and after the poll.
