Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 National Assembly elections.

Bello secured victory during the party’s senatorial primary election conducted in Kogi State, reaffirming his influence within the APC structure in the state. Party delegates reportedly voted in support of the former governor, paving the way for his return to the political scene through the Senate race.

The outcome of the primary positions Bello as the APC flag bearer for the Kogi Central seat, a development expected to shape political calculations within the district as preparations intensify for the general elections.

Supporters of the former governor celebrated the announcement shortly after the exercise, describing his emergence as a sign of confidence in his leadership and political experience. Party stakeholders also expressed optimism that the APC would maintain a strong showing in the district during the election.

Bello previously served as governor of Kogi State for two terms and remains one of the prominent political figures in the North Central region. His emergence from the primary is expected to trigger fresh political conversations within the state’s senatorial contest.
