JAMB Clears 279 UTME Candidates After Investigation, Others Still Under Review

 By Kehinde Awosina

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced the release of 279 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results that were earlier withheld for further investigation over suspected examination malpractice.

In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB disclosed that the newly released results are in addition to those previously made available to candidates nationwide.

According to the examination body, the decision followed ongoing investigations into reported cases of examination misconduct during the 2026 UTME exercise. The Board explained that while some results were cancelled after evidence of malpractice was established, others were released after investigations found no prima facie case against the affected candidates.

JAMB further stated that results from centres flagged by its live monitoring team for suspicious activities, as well as centres with adverse reports, would remain withheld pending the conclusion of investigations.

The Board warned that any candidate found culpable after investigations would have their results cancelled in line with examination regulations.

Candidates whose results are yet to be released were advised to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the UTME examination process across the country.
