Lagos WAEC Scandal: School Proprietor Allegedly Vanishes With Students’ Registration Fees, Candidates Shut Out of Exams

 By Kehinde Awosina

Confusion and anger have gripped parents and students of Transfield College in the Wooden Onirin area of Lagos State after allegations emerged that the school proprietor allegedly disappeared with funds meant for the 2026 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) registration.

Sources from affected families claim that each student was instructed to pay about ₦80,000 for the examination registration, with over 300 candidates reportedly making payments directly through the school’s management.

The situation reportedly became apparent on the day of the examination when several students arrived at their centres only to discover that their names were not listed on the official WAEC register, effectively preventing them from sitting for the exam.

The development has triggered widespread outrage among parents and guardians, who say they have been left stranded and frustrated over the alleged disappearance of both the school head and the registration funds.

Many of the affected families are now calling for urgent intervention by education authorities and security agencies to investigate the matter and ensure accountability.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
