Liverpool Set to Appoint Andoni Iraola as New Head Coach After Slot Exit

Liverpool Football Club have reportedly reached a decisive conclusion over their next managerial appointment, with Andoni Iraola emerging as the clear choice to take over at Anfield.

This comes after the club released an official statement confirming the departure of head coach Arne Slot, bringing an end to his spell in charge following an internal review of the 2025/26 season performance.

According to multiple reports, including transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League giants have now turned their attention to Iraola, who is widely regarded as the leading candidate for the role. Negotiations are expected to progress quickly, with formal steps already being prepared to finalise the deal.

Sources suggest that Liverpool’s hierarchy have already made their decision internally, with Iraola’s appointment now considered only a matter of time pending contract formalities.

The Spanish coach, who recently impressed during his time at AFC Bournemouth, is known for his high-intensity, attacking style of football, a system that reportedly aligns with Liverpool’s long-term sporting philosophy.

If completed, Iraola will step into one of the most high-profile managerial jobs in world football, tasked with continuing Liverpool’s competitive push in the Premier League and Europe.

The club is expected to make an official announcement once all legal and contractual procedures are concluded.
