Obokun 2027: APC Aspirant Awogboro Steps Down for FAS in Move for Party Unity

 By Kehinde Awosina

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun State Constituency, Hon. Mrs Oluwatoyin Adesola-Awogboro, has officially withdrawn from the race for the Osun State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a letter dated May 18, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman in Obokun Local Government through the Ward 1 Chairman in Ibokun, Awogboro announced his decision to step down from the contest in support of fellow aspirant, Hon. Folahan Adeniyi Samuel, popularly known as FAS.

The letter, titled “Letter of Intention to Step Down on My House of Assembly Aspiration,” stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters within the constituency.

According to her, leadership is not only about contesting elections but also about making sacrifices in the interest of peace, unity, and the progress of the party.

Awogboro noted that the unity and overall success of the APC remain more important than her personal ambition, stressing her commitment to ensuring victory for the party during the February 2027 House of Assembly election.

She further called on his supporters and loyalists across Obokun State Constituency to throw their weight behind Hon. Folahan Adeniyi Samuel in the spirit of party cohesion and collective interest.

The APC stalwart also reaffirmed confidence in the party’s leadership and internal democratic process, adding that he remains available to serve the party in any capacity when called upon.

The development is expected to reshape the political calculations within the Obokun APC camp as consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections continue.
