Obokun APC Primary: Awogboro Congratulates Folahan Adeniyi as Consensus Candidate Amid Uncertainty

 By Kehinde Awosina

Despite the controversy surrounding the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary election in Obokun State Constituency, one of the aspirants, Hon. Oluwatoyin Adesola Awogboro, has congratulated Hon. Samuel Folahan Adeniyi on his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate.

The development comes amid growing confusion over the primary election conducted earlier on Wednesday, with different camps releasing conflicting results and laying claim to victory.

Awogboro, who had earlier stepped down for Folahan Adeniyi before the primary, issued a congratulatory statement expressing support for the APC candidate and pledging loyalty to the party.

In the statement, Awogboro described Adeniyi’s emergence as an opportunity for Obokun State Constituency to enjoy quality representation and greater development under the APC platform.

He noted that although the contest was keenly contested among aspirants, the process was driven by collective commitment to the progress of Obokun and loyalty to the party.

“I accept the outcome with humility, party discipline, and respect for the leadership and structures of the APC,” Awogboro stated.

The former aspirant further assured Adeniyi of his support and readiness to work for the unity and success of the party ahead of the 2027 Osun State House of Assembly election.

“Be assured of my support, cooperation, and readiness to work with you in strengthening party unity, mobilising our people at the grassroots, and ensuring victory for the APC at the polls,” he added.

Awogboro also stressed that the collective interest of the party and the people of Obokun should take precedence over personal ambition, while praying for wisdom and divine guidance for Adeniyi.

The congratulatory message has, however, added another dimension to the unfolding controversy surrounding the APC primary, as supporters of Hon. Gbenga Falope are also insisting that their candidate won the election based on results being circulated online.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Obokun State Constituency had yet to officially announce the authentic winner of the primary election.
