Oriade APC Denies Adoption of Consensus Candidate Ahead of Primaries

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State has dismissed claims that Babatunde Desmond Ojo was adopted as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Oriade State Constituency election.

In a rejoinder issued on behalf of concerned stakeholders, the party described reports alleging the adoption of the aspirant as “inaccurate and misleading,” insisting that no official endorsement or consensus arrangement was reached at any stakeholders’ meeting.

The statement, signed by Azeez Abayomi of Ward 1, Erin-Oke, maintained that no leaders or stakeholders of the party authorized the declaration of any aspirant as a preferred candidate ahead of the APC primaries scheduled to hold today.

According to the statement, the “strategic meeting” referenced in an earlier report did not produce any resolution endorsing a consensus candidate, neither was any written endorsement issued by party executives or stakeholders.

The rejoinder also questioned the credibility of the report authored by Afolabi Henry Adedapo, alleging that he is not a constituent of Oriade Local Government and therefore does not represent the verified position of APC leaders within the constituency.

The party stressed that all aspirants remain equal under the party’s constitution and guidelines until the completion of the primary election process.

“The APC in Oriade remains committed to an open, transparent, and credible primary process. Every eligible party member should be allowed to exercise their franchise freely,” the statement noted.

The stakeholders further urged party supporters and members of the public to disregard unverified reports capable of causing confusion or division within the party, while calling for patience, discipline, and cooperation as the party proceeds with its candidate selection process for the 2027 election.
