Osun Students Deny Political Sponsorship of Osogbo Protest, Seek Dialogue With Gangaria

The leadership of several students’ unions in Osun State has clarified that the peaceful protest held in Osogbo was independently organized by students and not sponsored or influenced by any political group or external organization.
In a joint press statement released by the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), Osogbo National Students' Union, Federation of Ifon Orolu Students, Ilobu National Students' Union, and Federation of Erin-Osun Students' Association, the groups stated that the demonstration was conceived and executed solely by students committed to constructive advocacy and democratic engagement.
The student bodies stressed that the protest was never intended to disrupt public peace or obstruct the empowerment programme organized by Adewale Moruff Gangaria.
According to the statement, the protest was aimed at drawing the attention of the constituency representative to the concerns, expectations, and aspirations of students within the Irepodun/Orolu/Osogbo/Olorunda Federal Constituency.
The unions acknowledged the recent emergence of Hon. Gangaria as the chosen flag bearer to continue representing the constituency, describing the development as an opportunity for direct engagement between students and their representative.
The groups stated that sincere dialogue would provide clarity on the lawmaker’s achievements, ongoing efforts, and future plans, while also giving students the opportunity to present their views on issues affecting their future.
“We remain firmly committed to peace, order, and responsible advocacy. Osogbo is our home, and we have no interest in causing unrest or undermining any programme intended to benefit our people,” the statement noted.
The student leaders further called on Hon. Gangaria to embrace dialogue with the student community, saying such engagement would strengthen trust and foster collaboration between students and elected representatives.
The statement was jointly endorsed by the leadership of the five student organizations and signed by Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, popularly known as Collabo.
