A frontline aspirant for the Osun Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Oluwafemi Hafeez Oyetola, has officially withdrawn from the race ahead of the party’s primary election.
Femi Oyetola, son of former Osun State Governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, announced his withdrawal in a letter dated May 18, 2026, addressed to the Osun APC leadership.
The withdrawal letter, currently circulating on social media, stated that the decision followed extensive consultations and interventions by party leaders in the interest of unity and stability within the APC.
According to him, the sacrifices and encouragement from supporters, especially youths across Osun Central, made the decision difficult, but he chose to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition.
“This decision was not made lightly,” he stated, while appreciating party faithful and supporters who stood by his aspiration and contributed to his political journey.
Oyetola added that he remains committed to the growth and success of the APC and pledged to continue supporting the party and its candidates in future elections.
He also appealed to his supporters and associates to remain calm, united, and loyal to the party leadership ahead of the senatorial primary.
The development comes shortly before the APC conducts its senatorial primary election in Osun State, a process expected to attract keen political attention across the state.
