Pep Guardiola Set To Quit Manchester City This Summer
By Kehinde Awosina
Reports surrounding Pep Guardiola and his future at Manchester City have intensified, with several British and European media outlets claiming the Spanish tactician could leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the 2025/2026 season despite having a contract until 2027.
According to multiple reports circulating across football media and social platforms, Guardiola’s possible exit has become an “open secret” within football circles, as Manchester City reportedly prepare for life after their long-serving manager.
The 55-year-old coach, who joined City in 2016, has transformed the club into one of the most dominant sides in world football, winning six Premier League titles, several domestic cups, and the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy in 2023.
While speculation continues to grow, Guardiola has not officially confirmed his departure. In recent interviews, he suggested he still intends to honour his current contract, although he has repeatedly refused to give a direct commitment about remaining beyond this season.
Reports from TalkSPORT and other outlets claim former City assistant and current coach Enzo Maresca is among the leading candidates being considered as Guardiola’s successor if he eventually steps down.
Despite the uncertainty, Guardiola remains focused on Manchester City’s ongoing Premier League title race and recent FA Cup success. Speaking ahead of City’s crucial fixtures, the manager insisted his attention is currently on finishing the season strongly.
The coming weeks are expected to be decisive as fans await an official statement from either Guardiola or Manchester City regarding the future of one of football’s most successful managers.
