The chieftain of Nigeria Democratic Party and leading opposition figure, Peter Obi, has successfully completed the presidential screening exercise conducted by the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 general election.

Obi disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the screening took place in Abuja on May 19 and lasted for more than two and a half hours.

According to him, the screening panel carefully examined his academic certificates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials, age declaration documents, and other required records before clearing him for the party’s presidential race.

The former Anambra State governor also stated that he responded to questions concerning his vision for Nigeria and the leadership direction he believes the country urgently requires.

Following the exercise, Obi confirmed that he was officially cleared by the committee and subsequently received the presidential nomination form he had earlier purchased.

He commended the screening committee chaired by former Ebonyi State governor, Sam Egwu, describing the process as thorough and professional.

Obi also praised the leadership of the party for maintaining internal democracy and ensuring a transparent screening process.
