“Politics Is About Sacrifice, Not Personal Ambition” — Bindow Withdraws From Adamawa ADC Governorship Race

 By Kehinde Awosina

Former Adamawa State Governor, Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has withdrawn from the race for the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

Bindow announced his decision in a statement on Friday, saying he stepped down from the contest voluntarily after what he described as “deep personal reflection and careful consideration.”

The former governor explained that his withdrawal was based entirely on personal grounds, stressing that the decision should not be interpreted as a loss of faith in the party or its leadership.

Despite exiting the gubernatorial race, Bindow reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the ADC, pledging continued support for the party’s vision and activities in Adamawa State and across the country.

“I remain fully committed to the party, its leaders, stakeholders, and members across all levels, and I will continue to support every genuine effort aimed at strengthening our party and advancing its vision for a better Adamawa State and a greater Nigeria,” he stated.

The former governor also expressed gratitude to his supporters, political associates, and residents of Adamawa State for the confidence and encouragement they gave him during his political consultations.

According to him, politics should be guided by sacrifice, service, and the collective interest of the people rather than personal ambition.

Bindow urged his supporters and loyalists to remain calm, united, and committed to the success of the ADC, expressing hope that his decision would further strengthen unity within the party.

The development is expected to reshape the political calculations within the ADC in Adamawa State as preparations gradually intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
