“Producing for YouTube Is Stressful,” Sunshine Rosman Speaks On Health Challenges Facing Nollywood Actors
By Kehinde Awosina
Sunshine Rosman has raised concerns over the intense pressure faced by actors working on movies produced for YouTube, revealing that the demanding nature of such productions often affects performers’ health.
Speaking during the Paul & Baaj: In Character podcast, the Nollywood actress explained that YouTube film productions are usually executed under very tight schedules, forcing actors and crew members to work at an exhausting pace.
According to Rosman, actors sometimes shoot more than 20 scenes in a single day while working on YouTube projects, a workload she described as physically and mentally draining. She noted that productions meant for cinemas and streaming platforms are often more organised and less stressful compared to the fast-paced environment common with many YouTube movies.
The actress said the pressure to produce large volumes of content within limited budgets and short timelines has contributed to unhealthy working conditions in parts of the industry. She stressed that the constant rush can negatively affect actors’ wellbeing, energy levels, and overall performance on set.
Rosman’s comments have sparked conversations among fans and industry stakeholders about the growing demand for digital content in Nollywood and the need to improve working conditions for actors and production teams.
The Nigerian movie industry has witnessed a major rise in YouTube movie releases in recent years, with many producers turning to the platform to reach wider audiences and generate revenue quickly.
