Relief for Nigerians as Dangote Crashes Diesel Price by ₦200 Per Litre

 By Kehinde Awosina

Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market may witness a fresh reduction in diesel prices after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery slashed the ex-depot price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel, by ₦200 per litre.

The latest adjustment reduced the refinery’s gantry price from ₦1,800 to ₦1,600 per litre, a move industry stakeholders say could ease transportation and logistics costs across the country.

Reports indicate that the price cut comes amid renewed importation of petroleum products by marketers, intensifying competition in the downstream sector.

The refinery has made several price adjustments in recent months, reflecting shifts in global crude oil prices and market dynamics. Earlier in the year, it also reviewed petrol prices downward following declines in international crude benchmarks.

Industry observers believe the development could force other depot owners and importers to review their prices to remain competitive, potentially bringing relief to consumers and businesses dependent on diesel-powered operations.
