Shehu Sani Secures APC Kaduna Central Ticket, Defeats Zailani by Landslide

Former senator and prominent activist, Shehu Sani, has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District after defeating former Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, and another contender, Shettima, with a commanding margin.
The results of the primary election were announced on Monday by the Returning Officer, Barrister Sameera Ibrahim, who confirmed that Shehu Sani secured a total of 9,105 votes to clinch the party’s ticket ahead of the next general election.
According to the official figures released, Zailani polled 1,021 votes, while Shettima recorded 1,253 votes in the exercise.
The victory signals a major political return for Shehu Sani, who previously represented Kaduna Central in the Senate and built a reputation as a vocal advocate for democracy, good governance, and human rights.
Observers have described the outcome as a significant development within the APC in Kaduna State, especially given the profile of the aspirants involved in the contest.
Moments after the announcement, supporters of the former lawmaker erupted in celebration, expressing optimism that his popularity and political experience could strengthen the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
