Tambuwal Bows Out of Senate Race, Backs Yabo as ADC Consensus Candidate Ahead of 2027

Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has announced his decision not to seek another term in the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a major political development within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Tambuwal endorsed Ambassador Faruk Malami Yabo as the party’s consensus candidate for the Sokoto South Senatorial seat.

The move is being viewed by political observers as a strategic effort to strengthen unity within the ADC and reposition the party for a strong outing in Sokoto State during the 2027 polls.

In another key development, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has emerged as the ADC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Dan’iya previously served under Tambuwal during his administration as governor, and his emergence is expected to consolidate the influence of the former governor within the party’s structure in Sokoto.

The latest endorsements and consensus arrangements signal early political realignments in Sokoto State as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 elections.
