Yobe APC Hails Lawan, Others for Sacrificing 2027 Governorship Ambition for Party Unity
The All Progressives Congress in Yobe State has commended prominent party leaders, including Ahmad Lawan, Senator Musa Mustapha, Alhaji Lawan Kolo Geidam and Dr. Babagana Mohammed Adam, for stepping down from the 2027 governorship race in the interest of unity and stability within the party.
In a statement issued by the Yobe State APC Chairman, Hon. Mohammed Gadaka, the party described the decision of the stakeholders as “mature, patriotic and selfless,” noting that their sacrifice demonstrated deep commitment to the progress and cohesion of the APC in the state.
According to the statement, the move has further strengthened confidence among party members and boosted internal harmony ahead of future political engagements in Yobe State.
The party also praised Mai Mala Buni for what it described as his stabilizing leadership style, saying his administration has continued to promote peace, reconciliation and effective conflict management within both the government and the party structure.
The APC stated that Governor Buni’s leadership, anchored on inclusiveness, dialogue and consensus-building, has remained a major pillar sustaining unity in Yobe State and across the national structure of the party.
The statement further referenced Governor Buni’s appointment as Chairman of the APC Presidential Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilization, describing it as a clear indication of the confidence reposed in him by the national leadership of the party under Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The party equally appreciated the national leadership of the APC for entrusting Governor Buni with such a strategic responsibility, expressing optimism that his experience and leadership capacity would further strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
