Adeleke Ignored Tinubu’s Invitations, May Not Win Re-election, Says Fadahunsi
By Kehinde Awosina
A lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke missed opportunities that could have reshaped the political landscape in Osun State, alleging that the governor ignored attempts by President Bola Tinubu to engage with him.
Fadahunsi made the remarks while speaking on recent political developments in the state. According to him, President Tinubu reportedly invited Governor Adeleke on two separate occasions, but the governor declined the invitations.
The senator further alleged that there were discussions within political circles about the possibility of handing over the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State to Adeleke. However, he claimed that the governor lacked the political capacity and understanding to take advantage of such an opportunity.
Fadahunsi also maintained that several influential politicians, including himself, played key roles in Adeleke’s emergence as governor during the 2022 governorship election. He argued that the support network that helped secure Adeleke’s victory may not be available to him in future elections.
The senator expressed confidence that Adeleke would struggle to secure a second term in office, insisting that the political dynamics that favored the governor in the last election have changed significantly.
The comments are likely to spark reactions from supporters of Governor Adeleke and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially as political activities ahead of the next governorship election continue to gather momentum in Osun State.
