Adeleke Mobilises Security Forces, Hunters, OPC Against Threats in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke has intensified efforts to strengthen security across Osun State, continuing a series of high-level security meetings aimed at preventing potential threats and safeguarding lives and property.

The security engagements, which began two days ago, involved comprehensive reviews of the state's security architecture and consultations with both formal and informal security stakeholders. The meetings focused on enhancing collaboration among security agencies and community-based security groups to improve intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms.

As part of the initiative, Governor Adeleke met with representatives of local hunters, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Agbekoya groups, and the Osun Amotekun Corps. The discussions centered on building a coordinated security framework that would complement the efforts of conventional security agencies in maintaining peace and order across the state.

Sources at the meetings revealed that extensive brainstorming sessions were held to identify potential security challenges, vulnerable communities, and border areas requiring increased surveillance. The consultations also provided the government with intelligence reports on possible security flashpoints and emerging threats within and around the state.

On Tuesday afternoon, the governor convened a meeting of the State Security Council at the Governor's Office, bringing together heads of security agencies and service commanders operating in the state.

Speaking after the meeting, the Governor’s Security Adviser, Mr. Samuel Ojo, disclosed that the council had agreed on a series of proactive measures designed to forestall any security breaches, particularly threats targeting schools.

According to him, while operational details of the security plans would remain confidential for strategic reasons, the government has put in place effective measures to ensure the safety of residents.

“The details of the security strategy are being kept secret. But on behalf of Mr. Governor, I want to assure our people that Osun is safe and secure,” Ojo stated.

The latest security engagements come amid growing concerns over security challenges in parts of the country, with the Adeleke administration reiterating its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting residents through proactive and intelligence-driven security strategies.
