AIT to Broadcast 2026 FIFA World Cup Matches

Africa Independent Television (AIT) has reportedly secured broadcast rights to air matches of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to information circulating on social media and sports broadcasting updates.

The development means Nigerian football fans will have another free-to-air platform to follow the global tournament, which is set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 2026.

The 2026 edition of the World Cup will feature an expanded format with 48 teams and a total of 104 matches, making it the biggest tournament in FIFA history. Broadcasting rights are being distributed across different regions, with major global networks and digital platforms sharing coverage.

In Nigeria, AIT is expected to join other rights holders in providing live coverage, highlights, and analysis, although official confirmation from FIFA or the broadcaster is still being closely watched.

If confirmed, the deal would strengthen access for millions of Nigerian viewers who rely on free-to-air television for major sporting events.

Details regarding match coverage, commentary teams, and schedule are expected to be announced closer to the tournament kickoff in June 2026.
