Davido Fires Back at Rarara: ‘Stop Putting Politics Above Truth’

Afrobeats superstar Davido has responded sharply to criticism from popular Hausa musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara, insisting that no patriotic Nigerian should remain silent in the face of the country's worsening insecurity.

The exchange followed Rarara's criticism of Davido's recent advocacy at a FIFA World Cup-related event, where the singer drew global attention to the plight of abducted Nigerian children and victims of insecurity.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Davido argued that genuine love for Nigeria requires citizens to speak out against the security challenges confronting the nation rather than remain silent.

“Anyone who truly loves Nigeria cannot remain silent about the insecurity ravaging the country, nor should they stop others from expressing their concerns,” the singer stated.

Davido further accused some individuals of prioritising politics and personal interests over the welfare of ordinary Nigerians. He said a lack of compassion and the tendency to place political loyalty above the public good were not virtues to be celebrated.

The award-winning artiste also took a direct swipe at Rarara, urging him to “stop putting politics above the truth” and to fear God in all his actions.

The latest response has further intensified the public dispute between the two entertainers, with supporters on both sides taking to social media to debate whether raising concerns about insecurity on an international platform helps or harms Nigeria's image.

The controversy erupted after Rarara accused Davido of embarrassing Nigeria by highlighting the country's security challenges before a global audience. Davido, however, has maintained that drawing attention to the suffering of victims is a moral responsibility and an act of patriotism rather than an attempt to tarnish the nation's reputation.
