Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji Sweeps Polls, Secures Record-Breaking Re-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election. Oyebanji secured a resounding victory with 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challengers by a wide margin. 


According to the final results announced by INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Wole Oluyede, garnered 40,543 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dare Bejide, polled 12,872 votes. 


The outcome underscores the APC's dominance in the state, with Oyebanji reportedly sweeping all 16 local government areas to secure a second term in office. 


With this victory, Oyebanji has etched his name in Ekiti's political history by becoming the first elected governor of the state to win re-election and secure consecutive terms through the ballot box since the creation of Ekiti State. His triumph is being viewed by supporters as a strong endorsement of his administration's policies and development agenda. 


The announcement sparked celebrations across many parts of the state as APC supporters hailed the governor's overwhelming mandate. The victory also positions Oyebanji to continue leading the state for another four-year term, beginning later this year.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
