Fayose Alleges Makinde Government Behind School Kidnap to Tarnish Tinubu’s Image

Former Ekiti Governor, Ayodele Fayose has stirred controversy after suggesting that the recent abduction of students and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, may have been orchestrated to embarrass President .
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today, Fayose argued that some political actors could be exploiting security challenges for partisan purposes, alleging that the incident may have been designed to tarnish the image of the federal government.
The former governor maintained that President Tinubu inherited severe economic and security difficulties from the administration of former President . According to him, the current administration has made considerable efforts to address the nation's challenges despite the difficult circumstances it met on ground.
Fayose also faulted the tendency of some state governments to place the blame for insecurity solely on the federal government. He noted that governors receive security votes and have operational control over local security structures, including the regional security outfit, .
Drawing parallels with past security incidents, Fayose referenced the 2014 , claiming that insecurity has at times been politicized by individuals seeking to weaken or discredit a sitting government. He argued that such incidents should not be viewed in isolation from the broader political environment.
His remarks come in the wake of the recent kidnapping of students and teachers by armed men in the Ogbomoso area of , an incident that has generated widespread concern across the country.
The abduction prompted the Federal Government to send a high-level delegation to the affected community, while opposition figures, particularly within the , have criticized Governor over the state's security situation.
The Oyo State Government has not publicly responded to Fayose's allegations. However, the comments have already sparked debate among political observers, with many calling for caution in making claims surrounding security incidents without concrete evidence.
