Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has received praise following the successful direct return flight of Ogun pilgrims from Makkah to the state's Gateway International Airport, marking a significant milestone in Ogun's aviation and Hajj operations.

The first batch of 345 pilgrims arrived directly from Saudi Arabia aboard a Flynas aircraft, making Gateway International Airport one of the few Nigerian airports handling direct international Hajj flights. The development has been hailed as a testament to the state's growing infrastructure and improved travel convenience for pilgrims.

Stakeholders commended the governor's administration for facilitating the historic operation, noting that the direct flight reduced travel stress and enhanced the overall pilgrimage experience for Ogun residents.

The airport had earlier recorded its first international departure when Ogun pilgrims were flown directly to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
