“If APC Is Popular, Let Ballots Decide, Not Bullets” — Davido Condemns Attack on Accord Chairman

Nigerian music star and Osun political stakeholder, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has condemned the reported attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area, urging political actors to reject violence and prioritize peaceful democratic engagement.

Reacting to the incident in a statement, Davido stressed that political differences should never become a justification for actions that could worsen insecurity in the country. He said all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, have a responsibility to ensure they do not contribute to violence or instability.

The singer described the attack as unacceptable and called on political leaders, supporters, and stakeholders across party lines to condemn it. According to him, acts of political violence undermine democracy and threaten public safety.

Davido specifically referenced allegations that political hoodlums were responsible for the attack, insisting that such actions have no place in the democratic process. He maintained that political contests should be decided through the ballot box rather than through intimidation, weapons, or violence.

He further challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that if the party is confident of its popularity among voters, electoral victory should be pursued through legitimate democratic means rather than force.

The comments come amid heightened political activities in Osun State ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, with concerns growing over the need for peaceful campaigns and the safety of political actors across party lines.

Davido's intervention has added to calls for restraint, accountability, and adherence to democratic principles as political competition intensifies in the state.
