Ignore Kidnap Rumours, Schools Safe in Osun, Adeleke Assures Residents

Osun State Governor, , has reassured residents that there is no threat to the safety of schools across the state, dismissing recent reports of school kidnappings as false alarms aimed at creating panic among the public.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor urged parents, guardians and residents to disregard the rumours and continue their normal activities without fear.
According to Adeleke, security assessments conducted across the state, including border communities where the alleged incidents were said to have occurred, confirmed that no school kidnapping had taken place.
The governor stated that his administration had already put in place proactive measures to safeguard schools and protect students, teachers and other residents. He disclosed that the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, had developed and commenced the implementation of a comprehensive security strategy to strengthen safety within the education sector.
Adeleke accused unnamed opposition elements of spreading misinformation to create anxiety and destabilise the state, insisting that the reports were fabricated and should not be taken seriously.
The governor also provided an update on the state's security infrastructure, revealing that several Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) inherited from previous administrations had been fully refurbished and were now ready for deployment.
He explained that the armoured vehicles, which were originally acquired during the administration of former governor , were allegedly abandoned and left in a state of disrepair by the administration of former governor .
According to him, his administration rehabilitated the vehicles and would soon deploy them in strategic locations as part of a broader security initiative being implemented in collaboration with security agencies.
The governor further warned individuals seeking to incite criminal activities or spread fear through false information, noting that intelligence networks had been strengthened to monitor border communities and other identified hotspots across the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that no effort would be spared in ensuring the security of schools, students and residents throughout Osun State.
Adeleke assured citizens that the government remains vigilant and prepared to respond swiftly to any security threats, while urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
