“I’m More Than Qualified to Be President, But NDC Is Bigger Than Any Individual — Dickson Tells Obidient Supporters”
By Abdulahi Musa
According to Senator Seriake Dickson, he possesses the qualifications required to contest Nigeria’s presidency but insists that seeking the nation’s highest office is not his immediate focus. The senator made the clarification while addressing concerns from supporters of Peter Obi within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dickson explained that the primary objective of the NDC is to build a strong and enduring political platform for Nigerians rather than serving the personal ambition of any individual. He stressed that the party is being developed as an inclusive organization where members can collectively shape its future.
While acknowledging that he is constitutionally and politically qualified to run for president, Dickson stated that his current priority is strengthening the NDC and expanding its appeal across the country. He emphasized that discussions about presidential ambition should not distract party members from the broader goal of building a viable alternative political movement.
The senator also maintained that the NDC is not a “special-purpose vehicle” designed for any single politician. Similar sentiments have been echoed by Peter Obi, who recently assured party members that the NDC would be built on principles, service, and collective leadership rather than becoming a one-man platform.
The comments come amid growing political activity within the NDC following the party’s ratification of Peter Obi as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election, a development that has attracted significant attention from supporters and political observers.
