INEC Declares PDP Candidate Olaka Nwogu Winner of Rivers South East Senatorial Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olaka Nwogu, as the winner of the Rivers South East Senatorial District bye-election held on Saturday.


The result was officially declared on Sunday by the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Rosemary Ogu, at the Senatorial Collation Centre located at the Khana Local Government Council Secretariat in Bori, Rivers State.


According to the returning officer, Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party polled a total of 46,961 votes to clinch victory in the election.


He defeated his closest challenger, Osarokaka Ebenezer Erewari of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 1,647 votes.


Nwogu, who is widely known as an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, secured a wide margin of victory in the keenly contested poll.


INEC stated that the collation process was completed without major disruptions, after which the winner was formally announced.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
