Kano Governor Directs Political Appointees to Join APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed all political appointees serving in his administration who are yet to register as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to do so immediately, as part of efforts to strengthen the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor gave the directive on Saturday during an interactive meeting with elected and appointed government officials at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano. According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, Yusuf stressed that every official in his administration must identify with the APC and actively contribute to building the party's structure across the state.

"If you are serving in this administration and you have not registered as a member of the APC, you should do so immediately. Every elected and appointed official must actively participate in building and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections," the governor said.

Yusuf reaffirmed his administration's commitment to ensuring victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections, declaring that Kano State would deliver overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid.

He maintained that the APC government in Kano had no reason to apologise for supporting President Tinubu, describing his re-election as a collective responsibility of all party members and political office holders.

"Kano State is fully committed to ensuring victory for the APC at all levels in the 2027 general elections. We will lead the country in delivering overwhelming votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because we believe in the leadership and vision of this administration," Yusuf stated.

The governor also pledged that his administration would work towards securing victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly, State Assembly and local government elections, adding that governance must go hand in hand with strengthening the party at the grassroots.

As part of measures to motivate political office holders, Yusuf approved the allocation of plots of land to more than 300 political aides, including Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Senior Special Reporters, Special Reporters and Personal Assistants. He also approved the payment of ₦100,000 to each beneficiary.

Speaking at the event, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore, urged party members to promote the achievements of President Tinubu and the Kano State Government.

"We owe nobody an apology for marketing the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The people deserve to know what the President is doing, just as they can see the impact of constituency projects being executed with the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf," Falgore said.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit.
