OSCOTECH Secures NBTE Accreditation for Existing Courses, Gets Approval for 20 New Programmes

The Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, has recorded a major academic breakthrough following the successful accreditation and approval of all programmes presented to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) during its recently concluded accreditation exercise.


The development marks another milestone in the institution’s drive towards academic excellence, quality technical education, and institutional growth.


According to a statement issued by the College’s Public Relations Officer, Fatai Tijani, the NBTE granted full re-accreditation to eleven existing programmes across the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels.


The reaccredited National Diploma programmes include Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Agricultural Technology, Multimedia Technology, Arts and Industrial Design, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, and Business Administration. At the Higher National Diploma level, Banking and Finance, Accountancy, and Statistics also secured renewed accreditation.


In a significant boost to the institution’s academic offerings, the NBTE approved the commencement of 20 new programmes at both ND and HND levels.


The newly approved National Diploma programmes are Mass Communication, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science and Management Technology, Food Science Technology, and Transport Planning and Management.


At the Higher National Diploma level, the approved programmes include Arts and Industrial Design (Textile Option), Arts and Industrial Design (Graphics Option), Office Technology Management, Agribusiness Management, Animal Production Technology, Crop Production Technology, Agricultural Extension and Management, Film and Multimedia Production, Library and Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Industrial Mechatronics Option), Mechatronics Engineering Technology (Automotive Mechatronics Option), Marketing, and Taxation.


Reacting to the achievement, the Rector of the College, Mr. S. A. Adewumi, described the accreditation success as a reflection of OSCOTECH’s unwavering commitment to quality education, effective curriculum delivery, manpower development, and infrastructural advancement.


He commended the Governing Council, led by Prince Diran Odeyemi, as well as the management, staff, students, alumni, and other stakeholders for their support and contributions towards the successful accreditation exercise.


Adewumi noted that the approval of the new programmes demonstrates the institution’s readiness to align its academic curriculum with emerging global trends and industry needs, particularly in critical sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Mechatronics Engineering, Environmental Management, Media and Communication Studies, and Agribusiness.


According to him, the expanded academic portfolio will strengthen the College’s capacity to produce skilled, innovative, and entrepreneurial graduates equipped to compete effectively in the modern global economy.


The Rector reassured prospective students, parents, and members of the public of the institution’s continued commitment to maintaining high standards in technical and vocational education while providing professional training that meets contemporary demands.


He added that the successful accreditation and resource verification exercise further reinforces OSCOTECH’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading polytechnics, known for excellence in teaching, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological development.
