Osun APC in Disarray as Ex-Commissioner, Former Gov Oyetola Aide Resign Amid Defection Rumours

 By Kehinde Awosina

The internal crisis within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) appears to be deepening following the resignation of two prominent members of the party.

Hon. (Chief) Folorunso Oladoyin, popularly known as Bambam, a former Commissioner for Education under the administration of former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and a two-term member of the Osun State House of Assembly, has officially resigned from the APC.

In a related development, Hon. Halim Bakare, who served as Special Adviser on Lands during the Oyetola administration, has also announced his resignation from the party.

The departures have fueled fresh discussions about the state of the opposition party in Osun ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers say the resignations reflect growing discontent among some party stakeholders, although APC leaders have yet to issue an official response to the latest developments.

Sources within the party alleged that several grassroots members and leaders have become dissatisfied with the party's internal affairs, citing concerns over leadership decisions, internal democracy, and the management of party structures. These claims, however, remain allegations and have not been independently verified.

The sources further claimed that some aggrieved members believe their contributions to the growth of the APC in the state have not been adequately recognized, leading to increasing frustration within certain party circles.

Meanwhile, supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke argue that the governor's administration has continued to attract public support through its policies on infrastructure, workers' welfare, pension payments, healthcare delivery, and other developmental initiatives.

In another twist, party insiders alleged that meetings involving some APC stakeholders were recently held at the Ede residence of the Adeleke family ahead of the latest resignations. The claims could not be independently confirmed at the time of filing this report.

The sources also suggested that more defections may occur in the coming weeks, mentioning several notable APC figures as individuals being closely watched within the state's political landscape.

With political realignments gradually taking shape ahead of the next electoral cycle, analysts believe the APC may face increasing pressure to resolve its internal disputes and maintain party cohesion in Osun State.
