Osun Community Honours Four Residents Killed in Crisis

Residents of Ido-Ayegunle Community in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State have held a memorial ceremony in honour of four residents who lost their lives during a violent attack linked to a lingering land dispute in June 2025. The event was organised to remember the victims and reaffirm the community's demand for justice.

Speaking during the remembrance programme, the traditional ruler of the community, the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle, Oba Timileyin Ajayi, said the community remained committed to pursuing justice for those killed. He urged residents to remain peaceful while legal processes continue against suspects arrested in connection with the attack.

The monarch recalled that the four victims included artisans and an investor who had come to the community for legitimate work and business activities before they were allegedly killed during the violence. He described them as innocent individuals whose deaths left lasting pain in the community.

Reports indicate that the attack forced many farmers and business owners to abandon the area due to security concerns. Several homes and properties were also destroyed, with residents continuing efforts to rebuild nearly a year after the incident.

Community leaders used the occasion to call on the government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the killings are prosecuted. They also appealed for lasting peace and reconciliation to prevent a recurrence of violence in the area.
