Osun Rep, Gangaria Seeks End to Orolu Constituency Vacuum, Cites Court Judgment
By Kehinde Awosina
A member of the House of Representatives representing Irepodun/Orolu/Olorunda/Osogbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Adewale Morufu Adebayo Gangaria, has moved a motion seeking the restoration of the Orolu State Constituency in Osun State.
Gangaria, while presenting the motion on the floor of the House, cited a 2014 judgment of the Federal High Court, Osogbo, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take necessary steps toward restoring the constituency for inclusion in subsequent elections.
He also referenced relevant constitutional provisions on state constituencies, arguing that the continued non-implementation of the judgment has created a representation gap for the people of Orolu Local Government Area.
The lawmaker urged the House to compel INEC to comply with the court order, seek Senate concurrence, and mandate its committees on electoral matters and legislative compliance to ensure enforcement and report back within four weeks.
He described the motion as a step toward correcting what he termed a prolonged democratic and constitutional imbalance affecting the area.
