Otan-Ile Celebrates as Owa Afole Completes Sacred Ipebi Rites, Officially Commences Reign from Royal Palace

The ancient town of Otan-Ile in Osun State witnessed a historic moment as the Owa Afole of Otan-Ile, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Tolulope Aderogba Adetona II, formally departed Ile Odofin Olumose and proceeded to his palatial residence following the completion of traditional rites associated with his ascension to the throne.




According to the Chief press secretary, Mr Akanmu Sanmi, the monarch had been received into Ipebi on June 2, 2026, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Afole Kingdom, where he underwent sacred rites and preparations befitting the custodian of the ancient throne. His departure from Ile Odofin marked the successful completion of the traditional seclusion period and the commencement of his reign in full royal authority.

The occasion attracted widespread celebrations across Otan-Ile, with women from various compounds and family lineages entertaining guests through cultural displays, songs, dances, and prayers in honour of the monarch.




Addressing the gathering, Oba Adetona II expressed appreciation to the sons and daughters of Otan-Ile, both at home and abroad, for their support, prayers, and goodwill throughout the transition period. He prayed for peace, prosperity, and development in the community and urged residents to embrace unity and collective responsibility for the progress of the town.

The monarch also unveiled an open-door policy for the palace, assuring all residents of equal access regardless of social status, political affiliation, age, or educational background. He stressed the importance of inclusiveness and communal participation in governance and development.

On security, the royal father called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to relevant authorities, noting that maintaining peace and safety is a shared responsibility.




Oba Adetona II commended the leadership and members of the Otan-Ile Progressive Union (OPU), led by Hon. Bello Saliu Bamidele, for their contributions to the town's development. He also praised members of the Owa Afole-in-Council for ensuring stability and continuity following the transition of the late Owa Afole, Oba Sunday Olatokun Fagberade I.

Special appreciation was extended to High Chief Joel Afolabi Fapohunda, the Odofin Olumose, and the entire Ile Odofin family for hosting the Ipebi rites and preserving the cultural heritage of Otan-Ile. The monarch equally acknowledged the support of the women of Ile Odofin, members of the royal family, his parents, children, and Olori for their sacrifices and unwavering encouragement.




The ceremony marked a significant chapter in the history of Otan-Ile, symbolising the continuity of age-old traditions and the formal enthronement of a new era under the leadership of Oba Michael Tolulope Aderogba Adetona II. Residents expressed optimism that the monarch's reign would usher in peace, unity, and sustained development across the kingdom.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
