The Oyo State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement operation targeting unmarked vehicles, fake number plates, and covered or obscured vehicle registration identifiers.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security, reduce criminal activities, and enhance public safety across the state.

The Command stated that the enforcement, which began on June 4, will ensure strict compliance with lawful vehicle identification standards. It warned that violators will be arrested and offending vehicles or motorcycles impounded in line with extant laws.

As part of the operation, the police also announced sustained stop-and-search duties, intelligence-led patrols, and coordinated raids on identified criminal hotspots across Oyo State. Increased police visibility and strategic deployment have also been introduced in both urban and rural communities.

The Command urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with officers during the exercise, stressing that the operation is aimed solely at improving public safety and security.

It assured the public that all activities will be conducted professionally, lawfully, and in accordance with human rights standards.
