Tinubu Hails Oyebanji’s Historic Re-election, Urges Unity for Greater Ekiti

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in the just-concluded governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of the governor's leadership and performance.


In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly during the election, while commending them for renewing their confidence in Governor Oyebanji.


President Tinubu also lauded security agencies for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the poll, noting that their professionalism contributed significantly to the credibility of the electoral process.


The President urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain its commitment to conducting free, fair, peaceful, and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.


According to the President, Governor Oyebanji's overwhelming victory is historic, as it makes him the first governor in Ekiti State's history to secure back-to-back re-election victories.


Tinubu attributed the governor's electoral success to his achievements during his first term in office, highlighting progress recorded in critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and rural development under the administration's BAO Agenda.


He noted that the renewed mandate reflects the trust and confidence of Ekiti residents in the governor's vision, describing the result as a vote for continuity, stability, and people-focused governance.


The President advised Governor Oyebanji to remain humble and magnanimous in victory by embracing all segments of the state and building on the accomplishments of his first term.


He also commended other candidates who participated in the election, saying they had contributed to strengthening democracy through their participation. Tinubu urged them and their supporters to join hands with the governor in advancing the development of Ekiti State.


Reaffirming the Federal Government's commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government, the President said the partnership would help deliver more democratic dividends to the people and accelerate the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.


President Tinubu concluded by praying for wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he begins another term of service to the people of Ekiti State.

Accord Shocks APC, Wins Omisore’s Polling Unit in Osun Governorship Election

  By Abdulahi Musa  The Accord Party has won the governorship election at the polling unit of former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore. Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed that Accord secured 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St. Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area. The APC placed second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 10 votes. Other political parties recorded only a few votes at the polling unit. The development marks another early gain for Accord as the collation of results from polling units across Osun State continues.
