Turji Boasts of Killing Soldiers in New Video, Defies Military Crackdown

 

According to a report , notorious bandit leader Bello Turji appeared in a newly released video in which he reportedly boasted about the killing of Nigerian soldiers during recent attacks in parts of Sokoto State.

In the video, Turji was said to have praised his fighters and claimed responsibility for deadly confrontations with security personnel. He also reportedly dismissed claims that military operations had significantly weakened his network, insisting that his group remained active despite ongoing offensives against bandits in the North-West. The report indicated that the video surfaced amid renewed military operations targeting criminal groups operating in Sokoto, Zamfara and neighbouring states.

The development comes as security forces continue efforts to track and neutralize Turji, who has long been accused of masterminding killings, kidnappings and attacks on communities across northwestern Nigeria. Recent military operations have reportedly killed some of his close associates and disrupted parts of his network, but authorities maintain that he remains at large.

The video has raised fresh concerns about insecurity in the region and the continuing threat posed by armed bandit groups despite intensified military campaigns.
